This project is a proactive, long-term economic development plan focused on properties within the Tax Increment Area along US Highway 331 Corridor in Walton County, roughly from the northern shore of the Choctawatchee Bay northward to the southern boundary of the City of DeFuniak Springs.
The infrastructure improvements along US 331 are anticipated to create new development opportunities along the corridor. Developing a proactive, long-term plan will help manage new growth resulting from a combination of transportation and infrastructure improvements, and ensure new development along the corridor is consistent with the vision of the County and citizens.

Additional input will be gathered from county citizens and stakeholders to develop goals, objectives, and strategies for new economic development along the US 331 corridor, along with funding strategies to help implement the plan.
This project is expected to be completed by June 2018 as an amendment to Walton County’s Comprehensive Plan.
